Gasoline, Diesel, Kerosene and Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) prices are all increased from today.
The new prices were announced last night by Prime Minister, David Thompson, who attributed this to the high prices internationally.
To ease the increases he said VAT is removed from Kerosene and the excise tax on LPG.
Gasoline moves from $2.15 to $2.67, Diesel from $1.46 to $2.57 and Kerosene from $1.37 to $1.51.
A hundred pound bottle of LPG moves to $188.15, a 25lb bottle to $49.63, and, a 20lb bottle to $39.70.
Opposition Leader, Mia Mottley, says she is horrified at the level of price increases for petroleum products, especially in one jump. She says that coming on top of a 30 percent price increase in flour, it constitutes an assault on the poor and middle class.
Chamber of Commerce President, Dick Stoute, has praised Prime Minister Thompson, for his call on all Barbadians to conserve energy in light of the impact of international oil prices on Barbados.
He says efficiency and conservation are the things Barbadians need to address now.
