Dear Vob,

I am writing you about my Mum who really deserves to spend Christmas and her birthday(Christmas Day) back in her homeland of Barbados. My Mum has been living in the USA since 1967 and has not been able to experience a Christmas home since. She always reminisces about Christmas here. How special the meaning was to her when growing up. I notice that she normally gets depressed around this time of year when I ask her about it she says "I am homesick. I wish that I was there for the holidays."

For so many years she wanted to plan a trip back for the holidays but due to the fact, she is a single mother she has always had to work hard. She sometimes even had to work two jobs to support us through childhood and college, as a result she couldn't afford the trip home.

Only this year my Mum was planning and saving toward a trip home for the holidays but once again her plans had to be cancelled due to the loss of her job. To make matters worse, her uncle passed away which meant the money that she had been saving for her planned trip had to be used to attend the funeral here in Barbados.

Being here for the unfortunate event, Mum often stated sadly she would not be able to make it for the holidays due to a lack of money.

Voice of Barbados I heard your ad on the radio almost daily. From the first time I heard it my Mum automatically popped into my head. She is such a loving mother and person I would love to make this the best Christmas and birthday ever. Please help me make this possible.

Are you prepared for this hurricane season?
